Greg Benstead

Greg has had broad exposure to large-scale retail and wholesale operations, privately owned enterprises and global corporate businesses. His career includes senior executive roles such as Managing Director of Steinhoff International’s Freedom Furniture and Major Account Director at Metcash. Across these roles, he has led significant business transformations, overseen complex supply chain networks and driven commercial strategy in highly competitive markets. As CEO of HBT, Greg leads Australia’s largest independent buying group for hardware, building, timber and industrial businesses, representing over 1,000 member stores and more than 500 supplier partners nationwide. He has significant experience across operations, supply chain optimisation, commercial growth strategy, technology investment and organisational leadership. Greg is passionate about strengthening the competitiveness of independent and family-owned businesses, particularly in regional and rural communities where they play a vital role in local economies.
